We are going to the Silver's house for a New Year's party, so I don't think I actually get to try to pull this on the wifey. Sad day.

For those of you that are particularly curious about these things, the background image is Time Square - 2007.
For the truly observant, the next hyperlink is there. I'm trying to guess what the URL will be for tomorrows. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. It should autopost after midnight!

Well, for those of you that are going to be at the Silver's, I'll see you there.  Otherwise, Happy New Year!!!!

Ah,the 30th of December, the wonderful time of year when I get to haul a tree out.  Some people prefer to wait until the new year, but I said no, and proceeded to wack my tree.

Woot to no more tree!

On a side note - anyone want any firewood?

I REALLY didn't feel like posting last night when I got home, mainly because I knew this one would take a while to color in (especially when I use mspaint).  I'm posting it now.  I also have the rough versions of three others.  When I ink/scan/color is up in the air though.  Safe to say, it won't be tonight.

Here is a make believe scenario of the 8 hour drive home from San Diego that involves Christmas music and *shudder* Country music.

I have a few gripes. Christmas music is awkward. Because you don't listen to it for the greater part of the year, it's really not something that you get accustomed to until it's out of style again.  Also, country music.  I'm from Wyoming and I hate it.  I just don't understand the appeal of it, ug...

The wifey will NOT convince me it's good =)

Yeah, I'm late. I've had this drawn for a while, but it wasn't inked or scanned.  I finally got to it this morning - was very busy going through the wifey's grandmother's old stuff and figuring out what needed to be kept and what needed to be thrown away.

Anyway, here's the comic in all of it's uncolored glory.  If anyone's wondering, here's the definition for the sound effect fap.

This happened after I saw Avatar.  We went out and had dinner at Rubicon.  We gave one of our friends a travel version of Monopoly, which he proceeded to open under the table (yes, it did take all of his concentration).  The wifey did ask him if she could play.

I'm making a lot of late night posts - too much to do during the day.  Today, we hung out with my grandmother in-law and had lunch with her.  Then, we helped her with old documents.  It's always neat seeing legal documents from before I was alive.

So, nothing quirky to say here.  I'm tired, and here's your comic.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what exactly an appropriate viagra decoration would look like.

Merry Christmas y'all! Here's a card.  Yes, it's another poke at Farmville...

It may be a bit late, but the day's right! I've been busy eating Christmas dinner today. Busy all day with eating! I also snuck in another gift exchange in there. (for those of you that are wondering, I made a baked pasta, stew, and the wifey made some cookies for yesterday's gift exchange). We also went to see It's Complicated today.  Good stuff.

We are sending out Christmas cards.  They're almost in the mail.
For those of you that want to read them today, or can't read the copies you were mailed, here they are in their scanned glory!

December 24, 2009 - Gift Exchange of the Magi

I am having a gift exchange today. I know it's Christmas Eve, but we have one today for Nicky's mom's side. We have a homemade gift exchange. I'd tell you what I made, but that would ruin the surprise. Let's just say Nicky's upset that I obsconded with something she uses often for the gift.

Gift exchanges work like so. Everyone that brought a gift gets a number. Then, starting from number 1, they can either open a gift or steal someone else's gift. A gift can only be stolen twice. A gift exchange looks something like this:

See, that would have been a better ending for this story.

Well, I hope everyone has a blast anticipating all of their gifts! I know I will.

I'm trying something new here to make the web comics a little more accessable. On the top, I'm putting links to the previous and next comics. Also, if the comic is part of a series, a previous and next for the series will also be there. Let's see how well it works =)

I will be on the road to San Diego tomorrow at 7. Ug... I plan on hearing this song at least once. Then, I expect this to happen:

In fact, by the time you're reading this, we may be having this exact argument! I'm not really a big fan of Christmas music. Hopefully, I can convince the wifey that this is close enough...

Anyways, we'll see if a scanner exists up there at g'ma's. If not, then there will be a weeks break between comic posts at the end of which I'll post all seven when I get home. Otherwise, I'll still try to post one a day.

Let me know what you think of the links up top - location, presentation, color, etc. I'll add the links to previous posts slowly thoughout the week...

I went to a Guide Dog Christmas party thing last night at the Wing's house.  They had good food, a fun little white elephant gift exchange (all dog bones, and a doggy poop bag), and some awesome vendor (I'd mention their name but I don't know who they are!) gave guide dogs a bag dispenser, 75 poop bags, and a spray bottle of Nature's Miracle - for everyone!

Afterwards, we walked around the block.  For those of you that don't know, the Wing's live on a "Christmas Block" - everyone on the block, save for a few bad apples, put up AMAZING Christmas lights.  It looked something like this:

I almost bought a house in that neighborhood too when I was looking too.  I'm glad I didn't, as I would have been one of those bad apples cursing being stuck in Christmas traffic.

It's funny that this is the only time in the year that the blocks get congested with gawkers who drive and walk around looking at pissing contest displays where the owners are camped outside with marshmellows to make sure no-one walks away with a decoration.

Sorry, I get in a bad mood with traffic (and I'm driving down to San Diego tomorrow - ug!)  It all looked amazing, and I'm glad I went.

December 21, 2009 - Avatar 4-D

<< Previous
All Dom Comics
Next >>
Phew, my weekend was a busy one.  I spent lots of time with the wifey's relatives, and ate delicious ribs and chili (not the same meal, though that would have been awesome!).  And, I managed to squeeze in a filler comic and Avatar in IMAX 3-D.

On a separate topic, do any of you remember the old 4-D movies that were (and probably still are) prevalent in theme parks?  I really liked those, getting squirted with water and green food coloring whenever a character on screen sneezed.  This would have also been interesting in Avatar.

Yes, obviously I stole the screen cap and the poster from Avatar.  Yes, I also wish I could have stolen a giant arrow as a souvenir.

The movie is good, and was worth seeing in 3-D for the awesome animation.  The movie resembled some kind of monster cobbled together from Pocahontas, Alice in Wonderland, Apocalyptica, and Starship Troopers; which meant that I liked it.  It also made me want to go back and re-read the Dragonriders of Pern.

There were a few things that bugged me about the movie too.  It was very predictable.  It also bothered me that the poison on the arrows caused heart failure in minutes (basically enough time for the bad guy to look cool in a death scene before keeling over and dying), and yet in Australia, there's toxins on animals that'll get ya in seconds.  I think there's also a frog somewhere that'll also do you in quickly...  It also bothered me that the "sex" scene in there didn't involve the use of their hair brain tendril things.
I can't decide if the ending left it open for a sequel on purpose (what kind of marine doesn't see Earth retaliating?) or if they just didn't know how to wrap up a long movie up.  (yes, it was long.  I had to pee both before and after the movie).

So, in short, Avatar is a lot like Australia, but with less hot women and less BBQ.  But, it is worth the price of a movie ticket (not the soda though - it's really expensive soda!).  So, a golf clap for James Cameron.  And 8/10 for Avatar.  Go see it on the big screen and enjoy the 300 million they spent on it.

Oh, and RIP Brittany Murphy.  You were hot at one point.  Now your dead.  Found in the shower, very likely naked, and very likey pruny.  Not a good way to go =(

My root beer says that it's made with real aged vanilla.  I'm not exactly sure why that's good, but it complimented the can nicely and I was sold!  It doesn't actually taste any different.

Still, I guess per my mom's advice I should eat fresh fruits and veggies.  At least that's what she says every time we talk.

Anyways, enough rambling.  Here's what you came for:

Har har har...

Feel free to pelt me with your cheap imitation vegetables...

Last night, I was harvested my dairy farm on Farmville and found a green calf.  That's right, Farmville allows interspecies breeding - between my bull and my alien cow, and produced a super calf of both worlds, a super calf that I can't collect!  D'oh!  Anyways, here's a completly unrelated comic.

Come on Zynga, if you can create interspecies animals, where's my Lawerville app?

I have a theory that in order to keep a healthy relationship, you need to keep the other person on their toes,  They need to keep on guessing and question themselves.  Every now and then, I play a little game, like the following example.

Note how she now isn't sure if I'm just a lying sack-o-doodoo, or if she had a dream about me kissing her.  And if she's dreaming about me kissing her, then the relationship must be going well.  Sure, she may be a little grumpy from lack of sleep, but if she can't pin it on you, then you're golden!

Why can't people understand what I say in the context of my imagination?

For those of those that can't read panel 2, the first is the dreamer telling Elphaba and The Wizard of Oz that they're father and daughter. The second little segment has the dreamer telling Elphaba that she's going to turn the munchkin into the tin man. Sorry if this spoils the plot for you.
